This class of ships are first modern frigates of Turkish Navy. The first was built in Germany the last two in Turkey. They are all diesel configuration.
There is an on going procurement project for implantation of an Electronic Warfare Suite for Yavuz class ships. There will be locally produced ECM, ECCM systems, active decoys, LWR’s, IRST and the necessary user interface systems.
These ships are nearing to the end of their service life. When the next generation of general propose frigates enter into Turkish Navy this class may be phased out.
