The Chinese build Daxin class training ship of the Algerian Navy 937 ANS Soummam was in Istanbul for a visit.
This visit is a port of the training cruise for the midshipmen of Algerian Navy.
The ship docked Soummam yesterday the port of Istanbul (Turkey), said Wednesday the Ministry of National Defense said in a statement. This visit is part of the “execution of the instruction” summer campaign-2013 “where cadets of the Naval College consolidate the theoretical training with practical training,” said the same source. The ship was greeted by the defense attaché near the Embassy of Algeria in Turkey, accompanied by the Consul General and members of the Algerian diplomatic corps accredited to Ankara. A courtesy call will be made by the command of the ship to the civilian and military authorities of the city of Istanbul. An “Iftar” reception will be held on board the ship in honor of the diplomatic corps accredited to Ankara and the Algerian community in Turkey. During this call, cultural, tourism and sport program was established for the benefit of cadets and the ship Soummam in order to “enrich their scientific and cultural knowledge,” the source added. Before the port of Istanbul, Soummam school ship had docked the ports of Lisbon (Portugal), Portsmouth (UK), La Coruna (Spain) and Zeebrugge (Belgium).
