Russian Navy in Syria

According to numerous news reports some ships of the Russian Naval Group have docked in Syrian port Tartous yesterday.

The video below shows the Udaloy II class, Northern Fleet destroyer Admiral Chabanenko entering into port of Tartous.


A group of warships of the Russian Navy has approached the naval base at the port of Tartous to conduct a replenishment, announced Sunday a representative of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The ship anti-submarine-Admiral Tchebanenko, the patrol Ladny, the tanker Lena entered the port of Tartous, while the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov and the tug Nikolai Tchiki remained stranded outside the port,” he the source said.

The Syrian port of Tartus is the only naval base in Russia in the Mediterranean.

Once the replenishment done, “the boats leave the territorial waters Syrian January 9 to continue their mission.
