USS Stout In Bodrum

Today the US Arleigh Burke class destroyer DDG-55 USS Stout arrived in Bodrum, Turkey for 3 day port visit. The ship’s last visit to Bodrum was in 2009.

USS Stout is on deployment with the US 6th Fleet since leaving her home port in Virginia in December 2010, for a scheduled six-month rotation to the Mediterranean.

Although ballistic missile defense is USS Stout’s primary mission, she was one of the warships that launched Tomahawk cruise missiles at Libyan military targets as part of Operation Odyssey Dawn in March 2011.

I hope that the sailors will behave during this port visit as in March the then commanding officer of the ship and his top enlisted sailor have been relieved of command, and eight others disciplined, after incidents of inappropriate behavior at Mediterranean ports of call over the past few months, according to Stars and Stripes.
