On 12.06.2010 at about 18:15, Hong Kong flagged bulk carrier named Josco Nanjing loaded with 47.200 tons wheat, was passing through Istanbul Strait from North to South, when she suffered a major malfunction. She veered from her route and drifted very close to the shore. She was able to come to a full stop before she rammed in to the pavement.
Salvage assistance service rendered by Turkish Coastal Safety agency and the ship was pulled to a safe anchorage place out of Bosphorus.
Such accidents remind me that Bosphorus intercesting one of the world biggest cities, is an open invitation of dangerous accidents.
