Comments:

First batch of 8 were ordered in 1998, second batch of 17 was ordered in 2005. The first seven are in active service.

Sikorsky agreed to build one additional helicopter as a compensation for the delays in delivery. There will be 25 helicopters in total.

TCB-51 has fatally crashed in 2003.

They carry AGM-114K Hellfire II missile with a newly developed Blast/Fragmation warhead and Penguin Mk2 against surface targets.

5 aircraft were ordered with a contract signed 20 March 1998. TCSG-503 was lost with all hands on 30th July 2005, off Antalya coast.

Comments:

6 planes have been produced in Turkey for maritime patrol missions. They have replaced the obsolete S-2E Tracker planes. A separate contract was signed with THALES in 2001 for mission equipment. It is unlikely that these planes in their current engine configuration and range, can fulfill the operational requirements of Turkish Navy.

Comments

In January 2005 procurement of 10 ATR-72-500 airplane for ASW and patrolling duties was announced. The contrat values is USD 210 million. Mission equipment and sensors will be supplied by THALES under MELTEM-2 project.
