On 3 March 2015 in the late evening hours Turkish contribution to NATO SNMG-2 F-241 TCG Turgutreis and the flag ship of the task force, CG-69 USS Vicksburg made their northbound passage through Turkish Straits and entered to the Black Sea.

The duo was followed by the German tanker A-1442 FGS Spessart the following morning. The last two ships of the task force, 337 HMCS Fredericton and F-574 ITS Aliseo joined the rest of the group on 4 March 2015. They made their northbound transit through the Bosphorus just before the sunset.
